Choirs – St. Christopher's Episcopal Church

Sharing God’s gift of music is a primary way St. Christopher’s seeks to enrich the lives of its parishioners and guests. St. Christopher’s seeks to provide music opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. For more information about music at St. Christopher’s or to get involved, please contact Maury A. Castro, Organist & Choirmaster, at 508-945-2832, ext. 311 or mcastro@stchristopherschatham.org.

This choir sings a wide range of repertoire spanning the last 600 years, including standard classical anthems, spirituals, and world music. Rehearsals are in the Parish Hall on Wednesdays from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m., and Sundays at 9 a.m.

Evensong Choir

The Adult Choir is augmented by friends and guests of St. Christopher’s who enjoy singing for special services such as Choral Evensong, Episcopal visits, etc. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. as announced, in the Parish Hall. If you are interested in participating, please contact the choirmaster.

Music plays a critical liturgical role in Anglican worship. Over the past several years St. Christopher's has taken a number of steps to strengthen the music program and to make our music even more meaningful to those attending our liturgies and special events, including the establishment of the Choir School, the expansion of the scope and variety of the choral anthems, and the commissioning of a new Dobson pipe organ (Op. 98), installed in 2021.

Any who wish to demonstrate their support for music at St. Christopher’s may deliver a check to the church at any time. Please indicate “Friends of Music” on the memo line of your check. One may also make a secure donation via Paypal by clicking below.

Either as a part of the Friends of Music program or separately, parishioners and friends may also wish to donate $100 toward the purchase of new choral music (each anthem in our library costs about $100). The donor may dedicate the anthem in honor, celebration, or memory of the person(s) or event of their choice, and when that anthem is sung in church, this will be recognized in the leaflet. To participate in this ongoing program, please contact Maury. Or you may make a secure donation using Paypal:
