St. Christopher's Faith In Action youth program was featured in a special presentation on October 28 as part of the Diocese of Massachusetts 221st annual convention. Director of Christian Education Ilene Bendas and Faith In Action leader Mary Lanctot addressed more than 700 delegates, clerics and attendees in a program on "Sending, Serving" at Trinity Church at Copley Square.

St. Christopher's was one of four churches asked to tell about working with youths -- examples to show how God might be working to get people motivated and prepare us to be sent in service.

The Massachusetts Diocese originally approached St. Christopher's about participating at the convention in late summer. Our rector, The Rev. Brian McGurk, and Ilene Bendas traveled to Boston to meet with officials and members of the three other participating churches. Ilene prepared the St. Christopher's transcript, working with Communications Coordinator Tim Weller. Over a period of weeks, officials refined, reworked and shortened the draft to fit the convention's format.

The Diocese finalized the draft on Wednesday, Oct. 25, and Ilene and Mary Lanctot read it on Saturday, Oct. 28, the convention's final day.

"It was the highlight of the convention," said Senior Warden George Olmsted, who noted that the program got a standing ovation.
